Running

I ran from my mother
I ran from what's good
I ran from myself
and all that I knew

I ran in the dark
I ran in the rain
I ran ever on
and always in pain

I ran from my aches
I ran from my joy
I ran from my love
and all he implored

I ran into shadows
I ran into light
I ran through my days
and straight into night

I stood in the darkness
And all it held there
In quiet and peace
I'm no longer scared.

Very nice work. I think we have all run away from to time. If ant the end your find yourself that a good thing. Well done.

When it all gets too much, we often find solace in darkness.

This is a wonderful poem. I love our OSI prompt for this week. Running has created amazing inspiration and your poetry is quite vivid and moving.

When we finally stand still...all manner of beauty unfolds that we can't fathom while we're running.

But that doesn't mean that the 'runner' isn't always with us, yes?

Love to YOU, Still One--

Beautifully said. We do seem to run to or from something for a long time. Then, we stop to listen.

Nice to meet you Shraddha, Melanie, Write Girl and Andree! Thank you for your lovely comments!

Stan, Sandy and Tumblewords, it's good how we gain further clarity from other's words!, definitely feeling the solace, the marathon and the fact that it takes such a long time before stopping and listening sometimes. Feeling that big time today!

and Lovely Beth! Beauty yes...and the runner, I hadn't considered until reading you comment and felt like taking off again just for fun! Joyful running :D
