Oh, for that rest. Your poem makes me think of Robert Frost's "To Earthward." A favorite. Thanks for this.
like the urgency of rhythm in that first stanza, lovely strength.

Sleeplessness makes me sick, why is it so hard to have it when i needed it most?

No I would argue with your poet/writer as far as it goes with the 'longing for earth.' if you meant six feet under.
My shoulder wakes me up after an hour or two due to pain. It was my best sleeping side too.
Sometimes I go back to sleep and sometimes I don't and sometimes the TV (music??) puts me to sleep and other times it keeps me awake.
Getting old is not fun and I know it will be worse. Within ten +/- years I expect to be blind, my dad and all the males in my line were. But please no dirt over me until it is 'natual causes' and God's will.
So please tell your 'poet' to hang in there! :)

Jim! no, no ,no for sure! Life is too exciting and gorgeous to ever wish a second away! My poet self speaks of earth as in earthing the electrical energy, releasing through connection.
